How we met:

Sarah and I first met through the dating website Match.com. After exchanging a few emails, we officially met at the Artisan Cafe on June 13, 2006 and continued our first date at Addison's restaurant.

Proposal:

Sarah and I went on a vacation to the Caribbean this past summer. I had planned to propose on our first formal night on our cruise ship, but my plans went astray when we missed the departure of our ship due to flight problems.

Our initial flight from St. Louis to Memphis was delayed by 3 hours due to maintenance work that was done on our plane the night before that did not have the proper paperwork filled out. This caused us to miss our next flight to Tampa and any later flights that could have taken us to Tampa in time to make it to the ship.

The airline booked us on a flight to the Cayman Islands for the following day and set us up in a hotel in Memphis for the night. We flew to the Cayman Islands early the next morning arriving a full day ahead of our ship, giving us a wonderful opportunity to really enjoy the beauty the Cayman Islands had to offer. We saw the sights of the main land, and fully enjoyed the gorgeous beach just beyond our hotel door.

When our ship arrived in the Cayman Islands, Sarah and I were greatly relieved to finally make it aboard the ship. We enjoyed the next day exploring Grand Cayman and our cruise ship. That night, Aug. 7, 2007, on the deck of the Carnival Legend, I got on one knee and proposed. Amazingly, she accepted and didn't push me over board.
